In Situ Cancer Defined

Very early or noninvasive growths confined to the ducts or lobules in the breast. In situ means "in the site of". When used to describe a type of cancer, in situ refers to tumors that have not grown past their site of origin and have not spread into surrounding tissue.

( World Journal of Gastroenterology ) A research group in China investigated the expression frequency of endocan in colorectal cancer. Their result indicated that the expression of endocan is downregulated in colorectal cancer and is positively correlated with the tissue differentiation in colorectal cancer.
